In May, the Brightside Ball will be having a bash to raise money for Acorns Children's Charity.

Opus Jewellery is very pleased to be supporting this charity by donating some jewellery for their raffle.

If you are lucky enough to be going to a ball this year, here are some tips for getting your jewellery right with that elegant dress....
The big question is, what will you wear?
Lets start with colour.  If you are going to go for the versatility of black, you don't need to worry about matching your jewellery to a specific colour.  In fact any dress in one colour is going to be easy to accessorize.    And, if you are going to wear a dress with a pattern, its best to avoid chunky and showy jewellery -  or you will look like you have got your outfit from the children’s dressing up box!
For formal occasions, its great to have some sparkle.  So if your dress features sequins or other ornamentation, keep your jewellery simple.  Give the necklace a miss, and just wear subtle earrings and a bracelet.
If on the other hand, your dress is really simple, you can wear a statement piece of jewellery that screams, “I want to stand out in the crowd”.    The bold necklace scores more points when worn on its own, so dont over do it with your earrings.
The neckline of your dress is also important when choosing your jewellery.  If  your dress is strapless, consider a choker, or a large necklace fanned out across your chest.
If your dress has a V neck, choose a dress that mirrors the shape of the neckline.  A large pendant would look stunning.
Avoid long necklaces if your dress has a halter neck as your necklace will just get lost in your cleavage.  This is the time to wear those bold and beautiful earrings.
Getting ready to go out is not just about looking good, it is also about feeling good, and the preparation for a party is as crucial as the event.  Enjoy having your hair done, buying a new outfit, and of course some new jewellery....
And finally, just remember there are short cuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them!

Calling all macrame lovers.....

When most people thought that macreme was just for making bags or hammocks, two clever Danish men came up with an idea to create some unusual and beautiful jewellery.

They created Shamballa Jewels, a jewellery collection inspired by ancient Indian art.   They used the word Shamballa because it is the name of a mythical sacred place, and is thought to represent karma, tranquility, happiness and inner peace.
Unfortunately, the karma and tranquility comes with a
hefty price tag....

Shamballa bracelets,  hand made with diamonds and 18 carat gold, have turned out to be very popular with the extremely wealthy.  And I mean extremely wealthy - the bracelets have a price tag of between £2000 and £40000.  Shamballa bracelets have been seen on the arms of Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Boris Becker, Helena Christensen and Jennifer Aniston.

If you are a rather cautious person, and would prefer not to blow your life savings in one go, you can still get the look for much less.

Opus Jewellery has a small selection of Shamballa bracelets to tempt you.
